Meta Launches AI Agent That Can Send Emails, Book Travel and Make Payments

Meta has launched Muse, a new AI agent capable of connecting with other applications and autonomously completing tasks including sending emails, arranging travel and making payments. Initially available in the U.S. through a standalone app and WhatsApp, Muse can continue performing tasks in the background.
The AI industry is moving rapidly from chatbots that answer questions toward autonomous agents that can actually take actions. Meta's enormous user base could accelerate mainstream adoption, while access to email, calendars, payments and personal data raises significant privacy and cybersecurity questions.
Meta plans to expand Muse's capabilities and eventually integrate agent functionality with smart glasses. Security and privacy performance will be closely watched after internal testing reportedly uncovered problems including unintended data access.
