Applied Materials Unveils $5 Billion India Semiconductor Plan

Applied Materials announced a $5 billion India investment through 2035, centred on semiconductor research, supplier development and talent. Plans include a 140-acre advanced research park near Bengaluru and tenfold growth in India-based supply-chain capacity. The commitment, revealed at SEMICON India, remains a decade-long investment programme rather than completed expenditure nationally
The programme could move more semiconductor research, product development and equipment-related supply-chain work into India while creating opportunities for domestic suppliers and engineers.
Applied Materials will develop the proposed research park, expand its Indian research workforce and work toward increasing its India-based supplier capacity tenfold by 2035.
