India Hosts South Asia’s First World Circular Economy Forum

India hosted South Asia’s first World Circular Economy Forum, drawing over 3,600 participants from 62 countries and 135 exhibitors. The government presented circularity as a growth strategy extending beyond waste management toward resource efficiency, resilient industry and sustainable design. Registered producers have processed over 48.2 million tonnes under responsibility frameworks.
Designing products for durability, reuse and recycling could reduce India’s dependence on raw materials while creating new markets for repair, recovery and sustainable manufacturing.
Government, industry and international participants will develop collaborations involving recycled materials, product redesign, artificial intelligence, traceability and organised dismantling networks.
