
India Prepares to Host Expanded BRICS Leaders’ Summit
India will host leaders from 11 BRICS members under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” Discussions will cover global governance, finance, trade, technology, sustainable development and Global South cooperation. More than 350 BRICS meetings have been held across 25 Indian cities during 2026.
The expanded BRICS represents approximately 49.5% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP and 26% of international trade.
Leaders will meet at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12–13 and negotiate a summit declaration.
January 1: India assumes BRICS chairship
January–September: More than 350 meetings held across 25 cities
September 12–13: 18th BRICS Summit convenes in New Delhi
September 13: Joint declaration expected.
